"We don't want a coup d’état" - Bernard Mornah warns on bitter people joining security service
Currently, some personnel of both the Ghana Armed Forces and the Police service are in remand facing trial for alleged attempts to overthrow the President Nana Akufo Addo led NPP government.
Aside from the above, there is also a threat of instability being posed by members of the Homeland Study Foundation in the Volta region which is championing cessation from the sovereign state of Ghana.
As if those were not scary enough, there is also the issue of political party militias which has been an albatross on the neck of the state.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Pulse.com.gh earlier in the year, Bernard Mornah said that Ghana’s security services are made up of bitter and frustrated personnel, so a coup d’état could emerge from the forces.
He explained that most security personnel joined the forces out of necessity because there are no jobs available for them in their areas of interest.
It appears Ghana’s security is fragile with all these pending ‘timebombs’.
