Another building collapses in Lagos

Another building has collapsed in highbrow Lekki area of Lagos State, with many labourers reportedly trapped inside.
 
 

The spate at which buildings are collapsing in Nigeria and in Lagos especially, is becoming quite alarming, calling into question the roles of regulatory authorities.

Just a few minutes ago, a two-storey building almost nearing completion collapsed at the Agungi area of Lekki, in the state and according to eyewitnesses, many of the labourers were trapped under the debris.

Though details are still sketchy, it was gathered that many of the workers passed the night in the building, with the hope of continuing work this morning.

It is not clear as at press time how many people are trapped in the building.

The Lagos State Fire Service, the police and medical personnel are already at the scene of the incident but no rescue mission was underway at this time, as government personnel are just seeing taking pictures and have discussions.
