Court sentences 33 men for incitement, extortion
The Nigerian Police Force recently killed five armed robber suspects
The convicts have been charged with possession of deadly weapons and possession of intoxicating substances.

A Kano Magistrates’ Court, on Friday sentenced 33 persons to one year imprisonment for conspiracy, unlawful assembly, incitement and extortion.

Senior Magistrate Hassan Ahmad did not give the convicts an option of fine.
The convicts were also charged with possession of deadly weapons and possession of intoxicating substances.
The prosecutor, Insp. Haziel Ledafowa, had submitted that a team of policemen on patrol arrested one 27-year-old Abba Sa’adu and 32 others on Jan. 21.
He said that the convicts were arrested at various points at Kofar Mata and Kofar Nasarawa, while disturbing public peace and armed with dangerous weapons.

Ledafowa had said that the offences were punishable under Sections 97, 103, 114, 404 and 295 of the Penal Code.
