Joy Ikhuenbor, a 34-year-old pregnant woman, has been arraigned before an Egor Magistrates' Court sitting int Benin, Edo State, for allegedly beating another pregnant woman, Gift Nkechi, to a state of coma, leading to her having her baby prematurely.

A pregnant woman is in the dock for beating another pregnant woman to stupor.
The fight, according to reports, occurred at No 3, Ikhuenbor Lane, off Odion Street, Evbuotubu Quarters, in Egor Local Government Area of the state, when the eight-month pregnant Ikhuenbor, got into a fight with Nkechi over a minor disagreement and in the process, gave her the beating of her life.
Consequently, a caesarean session was quickly carried out on Nkechi to remove her baby and to also save her live. Joy was arraigned on a two count charge of 'beating with fist and causing bodily harm through human bite leading to sustenance of bodily harm'.
When the charges were read to her, she pleaded not guilty and the presiding Magistrate, William Aziegbemhin, granted her bail in the sum of N50,000 while adjourning the matter to a later date.
