In the Ghanaian fashion world, 2019 has been magical and we are hoping it extends to the next year.
Some fashion designers are making it big on the world market and those based locally are giving us more reasons why they are so highly-regarded.
There were so many red carpet events this year where celebrities were used as muses by fashion designers to showcase their masterpiece.
A lot of fashion shows were organised throughout the year but some of the most anticipated weren’t necessarily the best shows.
After careful observation and research, we’ve rounded up the top fashion shows that made a significant impact in 2019 from new entrants alongside some award-winning designers who stepped outside their boundaries to great success.
Glitz Africa Fashion Week
Ghanaian fashion icon and entrepreneur, Claudia Lumor owns a conglomerate of companies which includes the Glitz Africa Fashion Week. The GAFW is one of the biggest fashion events organised annually after the much-anticipated Glitz Style Awards. Fashion designers from Ghana and other parts of Africa showcase their designs to a slew of celebrities, fashion lovers and style influencers.
Accra Fashion Week
Ghanaians have embraced the Accra Fashion Week and the participation for the 2019 edition was just mind-blowing.
All the big names in the fashion and entertainment industry were present to support the industry and also flaunt their extraordinaire apparels to Ghanaians and fashion enthusiasts.
Rhythms On Da Runway
This year’s edition of the Rhythms On Da Runway dubbed the year of return edition was a huge success. Much went in planning, setup, and Ghanaians including A-lister celebrities attended in their numbers.
GTBank Fashion Week
GT Bank is on a mission to promote the African fashion industry and we must congratulate them because they are on the right track. The 2019 edition started with masterclass which benefits both the pros and amateur in the fashion industry before designers across Africa showcased their creativity on the runway.
Kumasi Fashion Week
Kumasi Fashion Week is gradually finding its feet on the ground. Nonetheless, the organisers are doing extremely well in terms of branding and from our research, it can be concluded that they are using their platform to promote new entrants with great talents who can’t make it on big stages. Thumbs up the team behind this project.
