Travel tips 10 travel experiences that you should have in your life

Spain’s fiesta is arguably their greatest tradition, but if you don’t like bull running, the alternative travel experience to have in Spain is to throw tomatoes at La Tomatina.

Wanderlusters all around the world have different preferences when it comes to travelling. Some might prefer to watch the sunset by the pyramids in Egypt, others might prefer to go trekking through the Amazon rainforest, while still others might prefer to visit the sun-kissed vineyards in California.

But just like anyone else, travel lovers shouldn’t stay in their comfort zone. If you feel as though you need somewhere new to go, or if you feel that you just haven’t travelled enough, let’s take a look at 10 fabulous travel experiences you really need to have at least once in your life.

Drink Beer In Munich At Okotberfest

If you love beer and travelling, why not combine the two by visiting Oktoberfest in Munich?

The Germans know how to party, and they love to party. Every year, from mid-September to late October, Germans let their hair down by drinking beer, singing songs and dancing with maidens. And they want you to join in with the festivities!

Oktoberfest doesn’t need to cost the earth neither, and you can get your hands and lips on a litre of beer for just 10€.

As well as the iconic Oktoberfest, there are also lots of things to do in Munich. You could visit the museums, the art galleries, watch the football team  and then drink all the beer.

Lob Tomatoes In Spain

Spain’s fiesta is arguably their greatest tradition, but if you don’t like bull running, the alternative travel experience to have in Spain is to throw tomatoes at La Tomatina.

La Tomatina is the country’s “brightest feast” and it occurs at the end of August. Basically, the entire town of Bunol goes tomato crazy, as locals and tourists literally cover themselves in the red stuff.

It starts in the morning, when trucks full of tomatoes mend their way into the town centre. One by one, folk climb into the trucks and start throwing tomatoes to officially commence the world’s most fun food fight. You can participate for just 10€.

(Just don’t spoilt the fun by throwing a turnip at someone)

Go See The Moai At Easter Island

Easter Island is without a doubt one of the world’s most mysterious places. Located not too far from Chile, it is a volcanic island that is home to over 900 statues, which are known as Moai. The statues aren’t exactly ancient – they were created sometime between the 10th and 16th centuries – but these monumental human figures are mysterious, and they are impressive.

They’re also a little bit creepy.

Still, the moai statues are amazing to look at, and will send chills down your spine if you go and visit them. If you notice their eyes moving, just run a mile.

Go And See The Northern Lights

The Aurora Borealis, aka the Northern Lights, are truly one of nature’s greatest miracles.

Okay, they’re actually the result of gas particles colliding with the sun’s charged particles in our planets atmosphere, but you can ignore the science and just bask in their beatific majesty.

A sight to behold, the artistic streaks in the sky that the northern lights create are magical, and are definitely worth seeing at least once in your life. Winter is the best time to saddle up on the ground and look up to the sky to see them, and there are numerous excellent vantage points: you could position yourself in Norway, Finland, Sweden, Iceland, Canada, or even Scotland in the UK.

Dive Into The Great Barrier Reef

If swimming is your thing and you still haven’t dove into Australia’s great barrier reef, I only have one question for you: what are you waiting for?!

The great barrier reef is known as “the largest living thing on earth.”

Yes, it’s alive, but not in way we commonly understand things to be alive. It’s basically an ecosystem that stretches for 2,300km and which is made up from thousands of reefs, islands and corals. It’s also home to numerous fish, including turtles and, um, sharks.

Still! The sharks you will encounter in and around the reef are harmless and pose no threat to you. So you’re free to have a whale of a time in what will be one of the most amazing travel experiences you will ever have.

Go See The Hobbits In New Zealand

Okay, so Hobbits don’t actually exist (sad face), but if you’re a Lord of the Rings buff, you will know that Hobbiton was shot and filmed in New Zealand.

Tours are available and start from just $75 per adult, which is a real bargain when you consider that you might get to meet Bobo. He might even invite you in for tea.

Bungee Jump Into The Bhote Koshi River

If you’re a daredevil traveller who wants to raise your adrenaline levels, you may be thinking of new places to throw yourself off.

Well, why not try bungee jumping at Bhote Koshi river? This heavenly blue river is located near Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. This particular bungee jump is one of the longest in the world, and sees you dive straight towards the 160 metre deep river. Wowzers.

Go Surfing In Hawaii

For some reason, I just can’t get the Beach Boys out of my head today.

Indeed, although Hawaii isn’t actually the birthplace of surfing, it is the place where any surfer who is worth their salt heads to in 2015. It’s basically a surfing nest, thanks to its deep-blue waves, heavenly weather, and hip locals and tourists.

Go On A Camel Safari In Jaisalmer

If you don’t want to throw tomatoes at Spaniards, have tea with hobbits, hurl yourself into ravines, or go surfing USA, you probably want a travel experience that is a little more relaxing and perhaps a little more interesting.

So, how about you go on a camel safari in India? Not only is Jaisalmer a beautiful city, but slowly travelling through its remote desert on an intoxicating journey may open your eyes to a simpler way of living. For days, you’ll see nothing but sand, and you’ll hear little else but desert songs. It could be the life-changing travel experience you’ve been waiting for.

New Orleans

Unlike everything else on our list, there isn’t really one good reason to go and visit New Orleans. Arguably America’s most interesting and flamboyant city, New Orleans just has to be seen to be believed. From the raucous Mardi Gras festival to the spontaneous marching bands, it’s a city unto itself. Visiting it will change your views on what a city should be.
