Former United Nations (UN) Secretary General, Kofi Annan, has sent a message of condolence to the families of the victims of Wednesday’s flood and inferno in Accra.
Over 200 people were reported dead following torrential rains that fell for over three hours.

Some people who had gathered in front of a Pharmacy Shop at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle near the Goil Filling Station adjacent to the GBC Towers to seek for refuge from the heavy downpour unfortunately lost their lives following a fire outbreak at the Goil filling station.
In a Facebook post, the Ghanaian-born diplomat expressed that his “…thoughts are with the victims of the explosion in Accra and their loved ones. May they rest in peace.”
Togo’s President Faure Gnassingbe, Nigeria’s Muhammadu Buhari and the UN have reached to commiserate with Ghana.
