The report suggested that Mr Allotey was questioned on the flight, escorted out and detained.
But Auntie Irene, wife of Mr Allotey speaking on Kasapa FM expressed shock and questioned why people would fabricate such a story.
“It’s never true. There is no iota of truth in that. I escorted my husband to Kotoka International Airport where he was travelling to US. The information started coming on Sunday. It’s not true. He even spoke to me on Sunday when he got to the UK. I’m surprised people are still spreading this. Why should we go on this trajectory? He wasn’t even carrying one pound,” she noted.
Meanwhile, British High Commissioner to Ghana, Jon Benjamin, has denied reports of the arrest.
“The story is not true. I can confirm that the rumour about Mr. Jacobs is definitely not true…Mr. Allotey Jacobs transited Heathrow this morning without incident,” Jon Benjamin tweeted on Sunday afternoon.
