The Minister of Information, Mustapha Abdul-Hamid said the directive is to help light up the communities in order to prevent crime.
According to the Ministry, this will help reduce the crime rate in the country.
The Minister of Information and Presidential Spokesperson, Mustapha Abdul-Hamid made this statement on behalf of the Energy Ministry at a press briefing held on Thursday, March 1, 2018.
“The Ministry of Energy has been directed to accelerate the pace of its cities and communities lighting programme, in order to light up our cities and communities especially crime-prone areas.”
He added that the government is very much concerned about security and peace of the country. He argued that the country can only develop if there is stability hence the measures in place to curb the increasing robbery cases.
Hamid, therefore, called on Ghanaians to be vigilant as they go about their daily duties and report suspicious characters in the communities to the law enforcement agencies.
