African leaders arrive for Akufo-Addo’s investiture

Zambian President Edgar Lungu, Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, Egyptian strongman Abdul Fattah el-Sisi and Sierra Leone’s Ernest Bai Koroma touched down at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) Friday.

In addition, Chadian President, Idriss Déby, Liberian President, Sirleaf Ellen Johnson and Ethiopian President, Mulatu Teshome also arrived in Ghana Friday for the event.

Also in Ghana are Kenyan Vice president Raila Odinga and Equatorial Guinea Vice President, Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo.

The dignitaries were welcomed at the Airport by high profile members of the incoming Akufo-Addo administration such as the National Security Minister-designate, Albert Kan Dapaah, Papa Owusu Ankomah and Hackman Owusu Agyeman.

The police say they will deploy over 3,000 personnel for Saturday’s event.

Police Director of Operations, Chief Superintendent Dr Benjamin Agordzo said the police is well prepared for any eventualities in the lead up to the event and during the event.

"I must say that we are well prepared for any eventualities," he said.
