According to the founder of the foundation, Chef Elijah Amoo Addo uneaten foods often end up as rotten foods at landfills. This is the single largest component of the country’s solid waste.

This he said causes the vulnerable in the society to go hungry.

He said to address this issue the government together with private institutions must make a deliberate effort to reduce food loss and waste at every level of the food supply chain.

As the world marks World Food Day, Addo said a public-partnership is the best way to ensure that this worrying trend is reduced or stopped completely.

The CFCG is a non-profit food organization.

The Chefs For Change Ghana Foundation uses food donated from companies to create sustainable means of nutrition for the vulnerable in society.

The team of volunteers go to schools, communities and orphanages where they cook nutritious meals from the donations they receive.

Addo said that food is a resource like gold and enough effort must be made for everyone to have at least a square meal a day.

“Government should create an enabling environment for businesses through the National Food Encouragement Policy,” he said.
