The suspended National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Paul Afoko has indicated that the party’s decision to suspend him is illegal adding that it is a clear breach of the constitution of the NPP.

He stated that the "NPP’s blatant disregard for the party’s constitution is alarming...I have watched my party slide down the slippery slope into destruction…our party is in danger."
Mr. Afoko has however chided the National Executive Committee of the NPP for disrespecting the Party’s Disciplinary Committee and working against the party's interest.
"The actions of the some members of the NPP creates an impression of strife within the body of the party. If we allow the constitution of NPP to be ridiculed, we will have a party without soul," he added.
Mr. Afoko addressing the Press said the procedure used to suspend him was completely against the set out rules in the party's constitution.
He said that the petition based on which he was suspended was “baseless” and should have been thrown out.
Paul Afoko, who lost his appeal to have his suspension reversed, has also indicated he will head to court to seek redress over the matter.
“I swore an oath at the Tamale National Delegates Congress to defend and uphold the constitution of the party to over 5,000 party delegates, members and supporters and this is exactly what I Intend to do,” he stated.
“I am not doing this for Paul Afoko but to ensure that the constitutional principles of the party are upheld and the sanctity of the party maintained for its current and future growth.”
