WBO Super Bantamweight champion, Isaac Dogboe, has hit the gym ahead of his first title defense.

The 21-year-old boxer is set to defend his title for the first time against Japanese counterpart, Hidenori Otake, on August 25 in Arizona.

Dogboe last fought in April this year, when he defeated Jesse Magdelano for the WBO Super Bantamweight belt.

And the champion has promised “fireworks” when he steps into the ring again to defend his title against Otake in two weeks’ time.

Hello Ghana, we are in the final phase of our training camp and we will be moving to Arizona to acclamatise and get ready for the bout. It is going down in Glendale at the Gila River Arena. It will be fireworks,” Dogboe wrote ahead of the bout.

At an earlier press conference in Accra, Dogboe admitted that Otake is a “compact” and ‘dangerous” fighter, but said he is ready for a successful defense of his belt.

Otake is going to come out strong. He is solid, compact fighter and he will be determined but come August 25, I will get into the ring to showcase my talent. He is a very dangerous fighter with a deadly right hand and we are not taking him lightly,” he said.

But we will take it back to the basics because in my last fight, I made a few mistakes. We will correct those.

It will be an exciting fight and Ghanaians should keep supporting me. They should pray for me as well. God makes all things and He has brought us to this opportunity.”

The 37-year-old Otake will be looking to end Dogboe’s unblemished record in the ring, which currently stands at 19-0.
