Everton's Steve Naismith hattrick downs Mourinho's men

A Steve Naismith hattrick helped Everton to a 3-1 win over Chelsea at Goodison Park

 

Chelsea's woeful start of the new season continues as the English Premier League defending champions were beaten 3-1 by  Everton at Goodison Park.

With all the attention on Everton defender John Stone who Chelsea unsuccessful  this summer but it was  Steve Naismith who stole the headlines with an impressive hattrick.

Naismith who will turn 29 on Monday, September 14 has scored against Chelsea three times in a roll at Goodison Park.

He however started the game on the bench before he was brought in for injured Muhamed Besic.

He gave Everton the lead in the 17th minute planting a firm header on Galloway's cross past Asmir Begovic for his second of the season.

Goodison Park erupted as they taunted a sullen Jose Mourinho with their chants.

Everton nearly had the second a minute later through Aruna Kone whose header was brilliantly saved by Begovic.

Begovic who came in for the injured Thibaut Courtois could not save Naismith's unstoppable low shot from 20 yards that fizzed into the far corner.

Nemaja Matic brought Chelsea back into the game before the half-time break with a a thunderous drive.

Everton were impressive after the break as they caught Chelsea several times on the break with Lukaku missing a couple of chances.

With the introduction of Willian in place of the ineffective Cesc Fabregas, Chelsea seem to have gotten the urgency to fashion out an equalizer.

That however did not happen and Naismith was on hand to complete his hattrick.

He was played through by Ross Barkley iin the 82nd minute before taking his time to coolly slot through Begovic's legs on the angle.
