Former Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah says his reserved personality does not make him a weak manager.

‘I’m not weak; quiet people like me are the toughest’ – Kwesi Appiah

The 59-year-old has often been criticized over his quiet demeanor, with some quarters not enthused by his lack of action on the touchline.

However, speaking ahead of the launch of his autobiography, Appiah rejected claims that he is a weak manager.

According to him, people who are often quiet like himself are normally the toughest ones.

“What people do not know is that every decision I have taken or the way I have conducted myself is informed by something,” Appiah told Joy Sports.

“The fact that I am calm and keep a cool demeanour doesn’t mean I am weak. In fact, quiet people are the toughest.”

Appiah is set to launch his autobiography, which is titled 'Leaders Don't Have To Yell'.

The book, which discusses the life, career and experiences of the 59-year-old, will be launched in in the various regions.

The 400-page book is a leadership memoir in which Appiah shares his account of key events during his playing days and his two stints as coach of Ghana.

The Ex-Black Stars boss disclosed that legendary managers Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger inspired his upcoming book.

“I understood why they [Ferguson and Wenger] took certain decisions and how they handled certain complex situations,” he said.

“They also made some very big players and managed their expectations and egos.”
