The Black Princesses opened their account in the tournament with a humiliating 4-1 loss to the hosts on Sunday in the ongoing FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

Coach Basigi believes the team would have performed better had they had a better preparation ahead of the tournament.

Ghana started the game in the worst possible fashion, ensuring the game was out of their reach by the end of the first half.
Three quick-fire goals in the opening 30 minutes gave France the advantage, before the Black Princesses managed to pull one back in the second half.

Prior to the tournament, Yusif Basigi and his team were scheduled to camp in Spain, but the trip was cancelled, amid visa issues.
This meant the Princesses played no international friendlies before jetting off to France to partake in the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
“We didn’t play any friendly international before coming so I knew we were going to face a little bit of difficulty, but not to this extent,” he said.

“It looks like we started very slowly and that didn’t help us at all.”

Ghana will be looking to bounce back from that opening day loss when the Princesses face the Netherlands on Wednesday.
