NDC, NPP pay nothing when they use Ghana's sports stadium for programmes
The National Sports Authority do not pay a dime when they use the major sports stadia as venues for their own programmes that is of no national benefit.

Despite the glaring disadvantages that comes with using the stadia for other activities aside sports, the revenue generated can also not be underrated.
However, the National Sports Authority have confirmed that the two major political parties in the country, the National Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) pay nothing when they use the venue for their programmes.
Explaining the situation to Atinka TV Sports Court, the National Sports Authority director Joe Kpenge said these political parties only paid for the fuel to power the generators because the Electricity Company of Ghana had disconnected power to the Cape Coast Stadium.

The NDC paid absolutely nothing for using the Cape Coast Stadium during their campaign launch in August 2016 despite Ghanaian musician Shatta Wale having to pay money in the region of GH¢20,000 for using the same place for a one night concert.
Joe Kpenge said:
"The NDC when in power asked us to rent the Accra Sports stadium to them for their campaign but did not pay a dime for the use though we had given them the bill on request. They only paid GH¢10,000 to us for fuel to power the generators because electricity company of Ghana has disconnected power at the stadium.
"The NPP also hired the venue for their Thanksgiving service after winning the election but also did not pay for the facility. They also paid for the cost of fuel but not the facility user fee.

“The two parties were in power when they hired the venues so there is a difficulty in retrieving the monies from them. We could not do anything outside our powers. They were in power."
The Deputy General Secretary of the NPP, Nana Obiri Boahen is reported to have admitted to the claims but blamed the National Sports Autority for not writing a reminder letter to claim their money after the event.
The major stadia in Ghana have been involved in a host of embarrassing reports involving floodlights, grass on the pitches and removed seats.
