Gyan, who turned 31 on Tuesday was stretched off just 17 minutes into Al Ahly league tie against Al Jazira on Saturday.
He will be out for a period of three weeks before returning to action for his Dubai side.
Asamoah Gyan is on loan from Chinese side, Shanghai SIPG due to lack of much playing time. However, injury worries have forced him to spend a portion of his loan spell in the stands.
Similar injury kept Gyan out of the Black Stars 1-2 defeat against Egypt in the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
