At court on  February 12, 2016 five of Akufo's  family members verbally assaulted and hit journalist Muntalla Inusah who they accused of taking videos of their relatives.

The situation was eventually resolved after the intervention of other journalists and a police officer.

Akufo is accused of drugging her victim and allegedly using a phallic shaped sex toy to penetrate the victim’s vagina repeatedly.

She is currently on a forty thousand cedi bail.
