A total amount of GH¢ 616,636 belonging to the National Electrification Scheme cannot be accounted for by the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum, an audit report has found.

According to the 2016 Auditor's General report, contrary to administrative directives establishing the scheme "three organisations had not remitted a total amount of GH¢ 616,636 to the Fund."

The Public Utilities Regulatory Authority also owed the scheme an amount of GH¢10,979,533 as at 31 December 2013 and remitted only GH¢100,000 resulting in an outstanding balance of GH¢10,879,533, the report said.

"As a result, the total amount owed the Scheme by these four Institutions as at 31 December 2013 stood at GH¢11,496,169.," the report added.

The report accused the ministry of poorly constructing electric poles and using sub-standard poles at Sedorm for provision of service to household.

In addition, the report said a project at Kwaku Ansah, which is yet to be completed was captured as a listed of completed projects under the 2012 fiscal year.

Similarly, at Kwame Wyetty, the report said  60 untreated LV poles which were to be erected was abandoned.
