Bishop Daniel Obinim, founder and leader of the International God’s Way Church, has revealed that he has long urged his wife, gospel musician Florence Obinim, to limit her presence on social media, advice he says she has consistently ignored.
Addressing members of his church, the cleric explained that he recently encountered a video in which a young man publicly encouraged Florence to withdraw from social media platforms. According to Obinim, the suggestion was far from new, as he had raised the same concern with his wife several years ago, without any effect.
“I watched a video of a man telling my wife, Florence Obinim, to stay off social media, and I simply laughed,” he told his congregation. “I gave her that same advice about three years ago, and she didn’t listen. If she wouldn’t take it from her own husband, what makes anyone think she would listen to a stranger?”
Bishop Obinim also used the opportunity to warn the public against speculating about his marriage, particularly claims circulating online that Florence is trapped in an unhappy or abusive relationship. He described such assertions as inaccurate and deeply unfair.
In his view, the narrative that his wife is “suffering” in marriage ignores the support and sacrifices he has made for her over the years. He went as far as saying that many Ghanaian women would gladly welcome the kind of partnership he has offered.
The pastor recounted that Florence was not a musician at the time they met and credited himself with launching her gospel music career. He said he personally financed her first recording, paid for her television appearances, and ensured her debut song, Osoro Ni Me Fia, received proper distribution, even when he himself had not yet achieved financial stability.
“Before today, where did anyone even know Florence from?” he asked. “People now say marriage is what is making her suffer, yet I am the one who introduced her to music. I paid for her first studio session, took her to TV stations with my own money, and supported her when I had not even established myself.”
He further noted that the very song he sponsored went on to win an award, which he believes contradicts claims of a troubled marriage.

“She won an award with the first song I financed, and people still say she is in a bad marriage,” he added. “If this is what a bad marriage looks like, wouldn’t many women be happy to have the same?”
The bishop concluded by urging the public to refrain from interfering in his private life and to avoid drawing conclusions based on rumours circulating online.
