Sources say the suspects were able to flee when the vehicle transferring them stopped to refill at a fuel station in Nkawkaw.
The three were suspected on August 15, 2016, after an attack of a GCB Bank bullion van at Maame Krobo in the Afram Plains South District of the Eastern Region.

The incident led to the death of the driver of the van. Another police officer who was escorting the vehicle was also wounded in the attack.
The bullion van, however, had no money in it at the time of the attack.
