Rose suffers left orbital fracture, will undergo surgery
Derrick Rose once again will have to battle back from injury to start a season after the injury-plagued Chicago Bulls guard suffered a facial fracture on Tuesday.
Rose was struck in the face by an elbow during practice and tests revealed the three-time NBA All-Star sustained a left orbital fracture that will require surgery on Wednesday, the Bulls announced.
The 2011 MVP has been no stranger to the operating table. He tore his left anterior cruciate ligament in the first round of the play-offs in 2012, which forced him to miss the entire 2012-13 season.
Although he returned for the 2013-14 campaign, Rose tore his right meniscus in an early-season game against the Portland Trail Blazers. He went on to miss the rest of that season as well.
Rose has played in just 100 regular-season games total in the last four years.
