Government freezes Opuni’s bank accounts

The immediate past Chief Executive Officer of the COCOBOD, Dr. Stephen Opuni has had his bank accounts frozen by the government.

This comes at a time when he is being investigated for some financial irregularities uncovered by the government.

There had been allegations of malfeasance, mainly by members of the New Patriotic Party, against his administration at the national produce buying board.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in a letter dated Thursday, January 12, 2017, dismissed the Chief Executive of Cocobod  Dr Stephen Opuni.

Dr Opuni was given up to the end of Friday, 13 January, to vacate his office.

The letter said Dr Opuni "ceases to hold office as CEO of Cocobod upon assumption of office of President Nana Akufo-Addo."
