Starc began cricket's historic first day/night Test in magnificent form, taking 3-24 from nine overs, despite looking uncomfortable at the crease.

He eventually limped off midway through the middle session.

The left-armer has struggled with bone spurs in his right ankle since the Ashes, although Australia officials have been reluctant to send their strike bowler in for surgery that could rule him out for as much as four months.
