University of Aberdeen confers Doctorate degree on Mahama

The convocation, which took place at the University’s Kings College, forms part of the President’s working visit to Scotland.

President John Mahama has received  an Honourary degree of Doctors of Laws from the  University of Aberdeen in the United Kingdom.

He was accompanied by the First Lady, Lordina Dramani Mahama, Foreign Minister Hanna S. Tetteh (MP), Communications Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and the Education Minister Professor Naana Jane Opoku Agyeman.

President John Mahama in his acceptance speech said "Let me express, on behalf of the good people of Ghana, my wife Lordina and my family, appreciation to the Faculty and Staff for this recognition and honour done me. I consider this an honour for all Ghanaians and it is a reflection of the strides we have made as a people, both internationally and at home. I therefore dedicate this Doctor of Laws honorary degree to the people of Ghana."

He is the second leader from Ghana after Jerry John Rawlings to visit Scotland.
