UEFA confirm tournament will still hold in France

The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) have revealed that the Euro 2016 tournament will still hold in France despite the recent terrorists attacks in Paris on Friday, November, 13.

Latest figures from French officials report 128 people were killed and another 99 remain critical after what appeared to be co-ordinated terror acts in the French capital, including three fatalities outside the Stade de France during France's international friendly against Germany.

Many voiced their concerns over France hosting the Euro 2016 but UEFA have released a statement backing the country.

UEFA said that they have been working with authorities for three years ‘to guarantee there is a safe and secure tournament’.

"We are confident that the necessary measures will be taken to ensure that is the case," UEFA said in a statement.

The draw for the finals which will be played from June 10 to Jul 10 2016 will go ahead as scheduled on Saturday, December 12 at the Palais des Congres in Paris.

France will play England in a friendly at Wembley later today after the French Football Federation turned down the Football Association's offer to cancel the match.

Belgium cancelled its friendly with Spain, also due to be played on Tuesday, after its government raised the terror threat level.
