Ulster produced a remarkable second-half fightback to secure a 24-23 victory at Oyonnax and enhance their chances of progressing in the European Rugby Champions Cup, as holders Toulon left it late to beat Bath.

Oyonnax must have thought they had their first Champions Cup triumph in the bag when they opened up a 23-0 half-time lead in the rearranged Pool One clash at Stade Charles-Mathon on Sunday.

It was a completely different story following the introduction of key trio Paddy Jackson, Ruan Pienaar and Nick Williams at the break, though, as the Pro12 outfit produced one of the most remarkable European comebacks to snatch what could prove to be a vital win.

Fly-half Jackson proved to be the match-winner, booting a penalty from long range two minutes from time to ensure second-placed Ulster now have 13 points - six less than leaders Saracens, with two games remaining.

Tries from Jeremie Maurouard and Uwa Tawalo as well as 13 points from the boot of outside-half Nicky Robinson put Oyonnax in complete command at half-time.

Rory Scholes gave Ulster hope when he raced away to touch down, then converted tries from Craig Gilroy and Kyle McCall cut the gap to just two points and Jackson settled it to complete an incredible turnaround.

Holders Toulon had to come from behind three times before Frederic Michalak's late penalty gave them a 12-9 Pool Five victory over Bath at Stade Felix Mayol, a result which was harsh on the visitors.

George Ford slotted over a penalty and a drop-goal in the first half to twice put the Premiership side in front, but Eric Escande responded with a pair of penalties to make it 6-6 at the break.

England fly-half Ford added a second drop-goal just after the interval, but Escande struck from the tee again and Michalak won it in the closing stages to move Toulon three points clear of Mike Ford's men in second place and just two behind leaders Wasps.
