The Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) will not be backing one of their own at the upcoming FIFA Presidential elections.

Liberian FA chair, Musa Bility who announced his intention to run for the office in June, was informed of the decision by the federation which he is a member off not to back him in the election.

“After a fraternal exchange, full of sincerity and cordiality, the CAF Executive Committee decided unanimously not to offer the requested support of Caf to Mr. Musa Bility, whilst wishing him luck in the continuation of his endeavour,” CAF said in statement after its congress on Thursday, August 6.

Speculations are still rife about who CAF will be backing at the election.

Goal reports that CAF will be backing a contender from Asia during the February 2016 election.

It is unlikely that CAF will be backing UEFA President Michel Platini following the French man’s tough stance on issues involving the continent in the past.

CAF will however make a final decision in late October when the Executive Committee meets after all nominations would have been made.
