He said he is pained by some actions of the former President.

"I saw it on national television, just three weeks to elections and he [Rawlings] was cracking jokes and laughing with our opponent. "We were preparing to go to war and our commander-in-chief was seen hobnobbing with the opponent. I’m pained," he said.

Victor Smith who contested the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Abuakwa North said majority of NDC members were demoralised seeing Rawlings on the campaign platforms of the party.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Friday, he said Rawlings incensed him by getting close to then opposition NPP during the 2016 elections.

"The man [Rawlings] we call our founder has caused some of us pain. We worked so hard, travelling at night campaign and your founder is hobnobbing with the chief opponent on national television. I cried" he noted.

However, Victor Smith is still in pain over the actions of his former boss who fired him from his position as Director of Public Affairs in 2008 with a text message.

The text also directed Mr Smith to organise a press conference immediately to announce his own dismissal.

The reason for his dismissal according to reports was because of a dramatic action that precipitated by a standoff between Mr. Smith and former first lady Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings over the candidature of John Mahama as the running mate to late Professor John Evans Atta Mills.
