The
The relationship between the Sports Ministry and the country's football governing body have been sour with either accusing and counter accusing each other of being against the development of football.
The latest comment from the Sports Ministry was an allegation that a management member of the Black Satellites approached him for financial assistance to help the team win their final 2017 Africa Youth Championship qualifier against Senegal.
And the GFA has expressed their dissatisfaction with such allegations.
"We are not taking the things he says lightly because you say things and then you leave them hanging, what impression does it give about the football association?" Communication Director of the Ghana FA, Ibrahim Sannie Daara quizzed in an interview with Joy FM.
The GFA also claim their quest to secure a headline sponsor for the Ghana Premier League (GPL), has been made difficult by Hon. Nii Lantey Vanderpuye.
According to them, corporate bodies are not willing to come on board because the minister claims they are not 'accountable.'
"Some of the marketing guys we appointed to go and look for sponsorship for our competitions came back to say that 'I met a company and one of the concerns was that your Minister says you're not accountable.'
"This is hugely damaging. It cannot be followed through. If indeed it is that the Minister is the arch promoter of sports not just football, but sports in the country, why would you make a conscious effort of damaging football?" he quizzed.
The GFA also claim the comments are not only damaging football, but the President who gave him the mandate to head the Sports Ministry, and has advised him to desist from making the FA unpopular.
"The comments of the Minister is damaging the country, it is damaging the person who appointed him. The earlier he stops these things, the better for all of us," he stated.
