Hasaacas host Hearts of Oak in Essipong

It will be a must win situation for the Hasmal lads if they want to keep their survival hopes alive as they sit at the 12position with 21 points – one point adrift from the relegation pit.

Hasaacas lost 2-0 in their last league game at Dwarfs while the Phobians were held to a pulsating goalless draw game by Aduana Stars at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The former Premier League champions are the only side yet to lose an away game in the ongoing domestic top-flight championship.

In the first round, Hearts of Oak struggled to beat the Sekondi based club 1-0 thanks to Isaac Mensah’s first half strike. The last time Hasaacas hosted the Accra giants was last season which ended 1-1.

The Phobians are hoping to pick the three points to go top of the log sheet – depending on the results of Asante Kotoko game against Bechem United and WAFA duel with league leaders Wa All Stars.

Hasaacas left-back Augustine Arhinful in an interview with Pulse.com.gh ahead of the game said they are ready for Hearts of Oak.

“We have trained very well, and we are ready for them. It is a game we must win because our position on the log sheet is not good, “said Arhinful.

“In the first round, we played very well but we lost 1-0, now we have the chance to avenge the loss and we will definitely do it.”

But Hearts of Oak’s most influential player in the ongoing campaign Mustapaha Essuman revealed their plans going into the game.

“We need the points badly because we have to go top of the log sheet. We have to keep our unbeaten run so we are not going to allow Hasaacas to spoil that record.

“In our last two games we have not won, so we need to win on Sunday in order to put smiles on the faces of our supporters,” Essuman opined.

Since 1999, Hearts of Oak have battled Hasaacas 26 times in the Ghana Premier League. The Phobians have won 15 times, lost 5 and drawn 6.

64 goals have been scored in their last 26 meetings. Hearts of Oak lead the pack with 41 goals as against Hasaacas’ 23.
