Sulley Muntari calls for GPL return

The former Black Stars midfielder has added his voice to the domestic league that has gone on a break following the ‘Number 12’ undercover piece.

Sulley Ali Muntari is worried about the delay in the return of the Ghana Premier League, saying talented players would pay the price for that.

The Ghana Premier League has been on recess after the first round due to the suspension of all football activities, following the expose’ by multiple award winning investigative journalist Anas Aremeya Anas on football dubbed ‘Number 12’.

Muntari who is currently unattached, but has been training with Hearts of Oak has urged the powers there be to put in place the necessary measures for the Ghana Premier League to resume.

"My problem is the fact that the league has stopped, which means all the kids and talents are at home doing nothing," Muntari told TV3 Network.

"How can we build the future if the league has stopped?" he added. "They should do something about it so hopefully the guys can get to play again."

Muntari, who began his career with Liberty Professionals in his homeland, won the Champions League with Internazionale in 2010.

He also enjoyed spells with Udinese, Portsmouth, Sunderland and AC Milan.

"They should just start the league," Muntari continued. "The guys are at home, and the clubs are losing money everyday, that is my concern.

"As for the other people and what they did, that's their problem," he concluded. "Some of the clubs are playing in Africa and this 'no league' situation affects them, so I want the government to do something about it."

It would be recalled that Kwesi Nyantakyi, former GFA President has resigned from all his positions as a football administrator over the Anas expose’.

Government has also put an injunction on the Ghana Football Association, restraining them from carrying out their normal duties
