Birmingham City had initially registered strong interest in Ghana midfielder and were ready to break their transfer record for former Parma man.
Acquah himself had requested to leave Torino, despite the club’s president’s willingness to keep him.
Birmingham City manager Harry Redknapp identified the combative midfielder as ideal for his side after seeing moves for Ogyenyi Onazi and Stewart Downing fail to materialize.
However, the former Tottenham boss’ frustrations are set to increase after failing to capture yet another target.
The news of Acquah’s failed move will come as a huge disappointment to the midfielder who has never hidden his desire to play in England.
The 25-year-old was recently handed a late call-up to the Ghana squad to face Congo in September’s double-header word cup qualifiers.
