The 2012 and 2013 Auditor General's Report made the disclosure that the former employees had been paid unearned salaries since 2011.

When the PAC sought clarification from the Jomoro District Director of Education, Mr Blay-Ackah Quayson, on the latest on the money in Accra Wednesday, March 3, 2016, he indicated that the office was unable to trace the former employees.

He said the difficulty was that the people were no longer in the service of the GES, while some of them were reported to be dead.

Mr Quayson said the original number of teachers who had received unearned salaries was 64 and indicated that the office was able to reduce the number to 44.

He said the office had reported the issue to the police and expressed the hope that the police would help the office to retrieve the money.

A ranking member of the Committee, Mr Samuel Atta Akyea, said the attitude of the former employees amounted to dishonoured misappropriation of public funds.
