Gonzalez surprises De La Nava in Marrakech first round

Qualifier Maximo Gonzalez sprung a surprise in the first round of the Grand Prix Hassan II with a straight-sets win over Daniel Munoz de la Nava.

Gonzalez needed 72 minutes to ease to a 6-1 6-4 win over the world number 75 in Marrakech, the Argentine setting up a second round match with either Paul-Henri Mathieu or sixth seed Albert Ramos Vinolas.

De La Nava's Spanish compatriot Albert Montanes fared better, though, the former finalist beating Franko Skugor 6-4 6-4.

Meanwhile, Moroccan wildcards Reda El Amrani and Lamine Ouahab both lost against Nikola Mektic and Facundo Bagnis respectively.
