'Abandoned' ship washed ashore coast of Aflao

A heavy ship on Tuesday washed ashore the coast of Aflao in the Volta Region attracting scores of people to the area.

The ship, which appeared abandoned was reportedly washed ashore at about 11:00am due to tidal waves from a heavy downpour in the Volta Region, TV3 has reported.

There are speculations that the ship with the inscription 'Barca Lome' might be a cargo ship.

It is however unclear where the ship is coming from and where it is headed.

As at the time of filing this report, officials of the Ghana Navy as well as the security agencies were yet to visit the site to assess the situation.
