The Black Stars have not won a major trophy in over 36 years, with Ghana last winning the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in 1982.

The country has, however, come very close a number of times, finishing as runners-up in 1992, 2010 and 2015.

But Gyan believes the players will have no excuse when they take on the rest of the continent later this year.

Speaking to Accra-based Asempa FM, the Kayserispor striker said he is planning with Andre Ayew on how to win AFCON 2019 for Ghana.

"We all know the task ahead going to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations. We have to end the jinx this time," Gyan said.

"I have been planning how to win the trophy with my deputy captain Andre Ayew. Any time I get the chance to talk to him, we plan on how best to win the trophy.

''The strategy to adopt aside technical issues and other things because Ghanaians are expecting us to win the ultimate.

"There should be no excuses because as players we have to be up to the task and do what Ghanaians expect from us in order to make them happy."
