The Regional Minister said President Mahama has directed him to act as KMA boss "until he appoints a substantive MCE for the area.”

The Ashanti Regional Minister John Alexander Ackon has been asked to act as the Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA).

The Minister is playing this role following the resignation of Kojo Bonsu. Asanteman Traditional Council called for his removal after they accused him of allegedly taking a unilateral decision to remove Amoamanhene, Nana Agyenim Boateng from the Kejetia Market project board without informing the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

Public Relations Officer of the KMA Godwin Okumah Nyame said the appointment was done by President Mahama

He also revealed that a meeting was held to officially introduce Ackon as the Acting Chief Executive of the area to the heads of departments and agencies as well as staff members.
