‘It's too early to complain over credit of songs’ - Sleeky tells Kuami Eugene

Kuami Eugene, known for his musical prowess and songwriting skills, sat down for an interview with U.S.-based Ghanaian vlogger Naana Donkor Arthur, and during the interaction, his contributions to “Case” and the lack of proper credit he received for his involvement were mentioned.

During the interview, Kuami Eugene made a bold statement, asserting that he had written approximately 80% of the song, which includes key elements such as the catchy hook and a significant portion of the second verse.

Amid the discussions on this controversial topic, popular Ghanaian music promoter and events organizer, Sadick Assack, known as Sleeky and the CEO of Sleeky Promotions, took to his Facebook wall to express his views on the matter.

In a strongly worded post, Sleeky criticized Kuami Eugene’s decision to publicly call out Mr. Drew for not giving him proper credit for the song.

Sleeky questioned the timing of Kuami Eugene’s complaint, suggesting that it might be motivated by a desire for attention and hype rather than a genuine concern for receiving due recognition.

He went on to remind Kuami Eugene that the music industry often involves collaborative efforts, and it is essential to consider the overall impact of a project beyond individual contributions.

Drawing from his personal experiences working with Mr. Drew, Sleeky praised the artist’s songwriting abilities and highlighted his willingness to acknowledge the contributions of others. Sleeky also noted that Mr. Drew had openly credited another songwriter, Afezi Perry, for his work on Mr. Drew’s album.

The controversial promoter added that Kuami Eugene is one of the top acts in the music space and is not new when it comes to the dicey discussions about artists putting out renditions of other acts without going through the due process.
