Kate Hudson, as a mother of three kids under the age of 15, actress, businesswoman, and WW ambassador , goes on doctor-recommended getaways as a respite from everything she has on her plate. But at this point in time, her kids are always involved. I have so many kids. My self-care is never alone. Even for me, a facial is self-care, because that's my time to check out. But my kids are in the room, she tells Womens Health in an interview she did for the cover of its December issue .

Her doctor encourages her to go away on her own, but shes waiting until her children Ryder, 15, Bingham, 8, and Rani, 1, are a bit older before she takes off on a solo trip. The doc prescribes a four-day weekend every six to eight weeks, and a two-week vacation every six months. I have yet to figure that one out, Kate says, in reference to the latter, but I do check out.

Staycations wouldnt allow her to truly unplug, so she escapes to her familys ranch in Colorado and just takes a breath of mountain air. I just sit out at the mountains andI don't know, there's something about being in the mountains there that's just soit's the air, it's the sky, even when it's raining, she says.

On a regular day, back in L.A., the Fabletics co-founder tries to get in an hour a day of movement to clear her head, whether its a hike, bike ride, or walk (she loves an outdoor workout ). And when she can, Kate completely shuts her mind off and meditates. You've got to find time to meditate at least 10 minutes a day, she says, When I feel my best is when I'm meditating religiously. But sometimes, with the craziness of life, it doesn't happen. I would be lying if I said that I was die hard every day, Kate admits.

Journaling isn't as much of a part of her self-care routine as she'd like with a one-year-old running around. But she doesnt want to miss documenting any of the big moments in any of her kids lives. I jot milestones down. I'll jot ideas or things, but that's the one thing I miss. Writing, specifically writing music (her partner, Danny Fujikawa , also happens to be a musician by trade), is what Kate's hoping to accomplish more ofshe is in the process of writing her own record and letting some bluesy, folksy soulfulness out at the piano.

Speaking of letting it all out, she deals with obstacles by allowing challenges to run their course and not shying away from her negative emotions as a result. I let myself feel like sh*t. I allow myself an opportunity to not feel good, Kate says. And I feel very lucky that I have a support system that allows me to go through waves of good and bad times in my life.
