The Police Inspector, Eric Asante told the court that the complainant, Bernice Kennedy, is a businessman in Obuasi and is the fiancée of the accused.

She told the suspect in September last year that she would want to buy a Mercedes Benz GL450 vehicle, and he convinced her that he could get the vehicle for her from a car dealer in Togo.

Bernice subsequently gave the suspect the money to get her the car, the prosecution said.

But he failed to deliver the car and the complainant was left with no option than to report to the police.

He was later arrested.
