Luke Charteris and Rhys Patchell have been included in the Wales starting XV for the second Test against New Zealand in Wellington on Saturday.

Head coach Warren Gatland's only change to the forward pack sees Charteris replace Bradley Davies, who drops to the bench.

The 33-year-old lock captained a second-string Wales side in a 40-7 defeat to Super Rugby side Chiefs on Tuesday, but still comes into the team.

Patchell, 23, is introduced in place of George North, who has been sent home after sustaining a hamstring injury during the second half of Wales' 39-21 loss in the opening game of the three-match series at Eden Park last weekend.

Liam Williams will subsequently switch to the wing, with Patchell deployed at full-back.

Gatland wants Wales to show more dominance in possession in the second Test and wants to see further improvement after captain Sam Warburton branded the team "heroic losers".

"It is important we go out on Saturday with the confidence to play for 80 minutes in what will be another huge Test match," said Gatland.

"We kept the ball and played well for periods of the first Test and we need to convert that to the full 80.

"It will be another huge occasion, in a packed out stadium in Wellington and we are determined to build on our first Test performance."

Wales: Rhys Patchell, Liam Williams, Jonathan Davies, Jamie Roberts, Hallam Amos, Dan Biggar, Rhys Webb; Gethin Jenkins, Ken Owens, Samson Lee, Luke Charteris, Alun Wyn Jones, Ross Moriarty, Sam Warburton, Taulupe Faletau.
