Vonn completes Lake Louise clean sweep with super-G win
Lindsey Vonn produced a masterclass in the FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup super-G at Lake Louise as she won her third race of the meet in Canada by over one second.
The American set a blistering pace from the outset of her run on the 1,796-metre course on Sunday and turned a stunning start into a dominant win, Vonn coming home in one minute 19.79seconds.
As she made her way through the 40 gates between the start and finish, Vonn was composed on her skis, finding superb lines as she increased her lead over former leader Tamara Tippler (+1.32secs).
Victory completes a clean sweep for Vonn in the Canadian resort, having claimed both downhill victories on the previous two days " cementing her place at the top of the overall standings.
Tippler was a surprise early leader after she stopped the clock at one minute 21.11secs early on, the Austrian watching the likes of Tina Weirather, Lara Gut and Cornelia Huetter (+1.35secs) all fail to eclipse her time.
She could not keep Vonn at bay, though, the American showing herself as a class apart as she surged to another impressive victory.
Behind the 31-year-old Tippler and Huetter completed the top three, with Gut and Weirather having to settle for spots in the top 10.
