Man stabbed to death with scissors during wake

The incident occurred at around 1.45 a.m. after the victim had a quarrel with the suspect, Gideon Boakye,19, during a wake-keep at Bepoase.

A 25-year-old man, Abraham Mpong, was on Saturday stabbed to death during a scuffle at Bepoase near Wiamoase in the Sekyere South District in the Ashanti Region.

The Agona District Police Commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Francis Akwasi Asante told The Mirror that in the course of the scuffle, Boakye was armed with a pair of scissors, which he used in stabbing Mpong in the chest.

He said Mpong was rushed to the Bepoase Health Centre but was pronounced dead on arrival.
The remains have since been deposited at the morgue of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital pending autopsy.

The suspect has also been arrested and is currently being held in police custody.
Meanwhile, ASP Asante said police were preparing to prosecute Boakye for murder.
