Govt lied; no rehabilitation work done in St. Thomas Aquinas labs

Pulse business has learnt that Government’s claim it has spent GHC95,000 on the rehabilitation of St. Thomas Aquinas SHS' science laboratory is false. This expenditure is contained in the 2015 Annual Report on the Petroleum Revenues Fund. Pulse Business visited the St. Thomas Acquinas Senior High School and found out that no work has been done. Some science teachers in the school who operate the laboratories said no work had been done in the resource centre for years.

VRA wants court to set aside CPA's suit

The Volta River Authority has asked an Accra High Court to set aside a case brought against it by the Consumer Protection Agency (CPA) over the recent tariff increases. This request from the VRA follows a similar one filed by the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission PURC, seeking the court to do same. The CPA some weeks ago filed a suit against the PURC, VRA and other utility providers seeking to restrain them from implementing the recent upward tariff adjustment of 59.2 percent in electricity.

Reinstated DCE of Ahanta banned from speaking on radio

The district chief executive for Ahanta West district in the Western region, Joseph Dofoyena who has been reinstated after the president sacked him from office in February this year has been warned not to ever speak on radio or else he will be sacked again.He was reinstated following several petitions to the presidency and the local government ministry by the chiefs and people of Ahanta. This warning not to speak on radio came from the Western Regional Minister after the DCE was endorsed.

FIFA ban Sepp Blatter and Michel Platini from football for 8 years

Football’s governing body FIFA have banned Sepp  Blatter and Michel Platini from football for 8 years. The ban which comes following an ethics investigation and involves suspension from all football related activities starts with immediate effect. Sepp Blatter who has been FIFA boss since 1998 was found guilty of ethics code breaches involving a £1.3 million “disloyal payment’ made to French international and UEFA president Michel Platini.
