Multimedia has issued an apology to the New Patriotic Party after two panellists who were to represent the party on Joy FM’s news analysis programme “Newsfile” were rejected as not fit for the show.

But Multimedia, the parent company of Joy FM, said the statement by Anyenini “was not to denigrate the person of those who the NPP chose to represent it on Newsfile yesterday (Saturday April 17, 2017).”

It said the decision on “who appears on any of our shows rests with the editorial team and we would stand by those decisions.”

“However, we apologise unreservedly for the use of the words that suggest that the two gentlemen are not up to the standard. We apologise,” the statement said.

The apology from Multimedia follows a strong condemnation of the statement by the New Patriotic Party.

The Acting General Secretary of the NPP, John Baodu, described the statement as "unsavoury" and “unfortunate,” demanding an apology from the station and the host.
