Rio 2016 organisers are investigating reports a bus carrying members of the media between venues was attacked on Tuesday.

Pictures emerged showing a bus with two smashed windows, although it was initially unclear who or what was responsible for the damage.

Some reports claimed the vehicle had been shot at, while others suggested rocks were hurled at the bus.

When contacted by Omnisport, a Games spokesperson confirmed an investigation was under way to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

On Saturday a bullet landed at the feet of photographers at Rio's equestrian venue, with security forces concluding that the missile was fired at a police blimp from a local community.

A controlled explosion was also carried out on a suspect package on Saturday, close to the finish line of the men's cycling road race.
