The team spent the night inside the Stade de France after the international friendly against France, but flew home early on Saturday morning.

Latest figures from French officials report 128 people were killed and another 99 remain critical after what appeared to be co-ordinated terror acts in the French capital, including three fatalities outside the Stade de France.

"Die Mannschaft spent the night inside the stadium but are now safely back in Frankfurt," the DFB tweeted.

"Our thoughts are with the victims of the attacks and their families.

Georg Behlau, logistics manager for the German national team, said the players will now return home and a decision on whether Tuesday's friendly versus Netherlands will go ahead as planned will be taken in due course "Everybody's going home now, will get a night's sleep and then we will take a decision about Tuesday's match," Behlau said. Meanwhile, Germany defender Mats Hummels has expressed his shock with Friday's events in the French capital. "Back in Germany. Unbelievable what happened. This world is f***** up right now. My thoughts are with those who lost someone they love," he said on his official Twitter account.
