France hopes to expand its partnership with Ghana, which has intensified in recent years.

The French Republic has extolled Ghana for leading the way in democracy, tolerance and freedom of expression in the December 7 general elections and hoped that the country will continue to be an example.

A statement issued by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs paid tribute to Ghana's democratic tradition as well as the outgoing President John Mahama.

It assured of continued support to Nana Addo and that Ghana can count on France as an active and committed partner for the country’s economic and social development.

The statement added that France hopes to expand its partnership with Ghana under Akufo-Addo's leadership.

France warmly congratulates Mr. Nana Akufo-Addo on his election as President of the Republic of Ghana.

This election once again does credit to Ghana’s democratic tradition. We pay tribute to the outgoing President, John Mahama.
